Earth Day at Mountains Branch Library
Earth Day was observed on April 22nd at Mountains Branch Library with an afterschool Children’s “Lorax” Program. In addition to reading the famed and prophetic Dr. Seuss classic, kids discussed ways to celebrate Mother Earth every day at home by reducing waste, recycling trash and reusing items. Kids made their own Earth Day “Dirt Cup”snacks, and afterwards used the plastic pudding cups to plant their own sunflower seeds to take home and grow. To top off the celebration, a dogwood tree was planted in the Library garden.
